Bob Zantos founded Westcoast Performance Products USA Inc. in 1978 in Costa Mesa, California.
Within a short time, Westcoast moved into more suitable shop space in nearby Santa Ana. Once the product line was established, Zantos quickly became one of the leading specialty equipment manufacturers for the growing personal watercraft aftermarket industry.
In January of 1986 the company relocated to a newly constructed two-story industrial building in Orange, California. Again, business out paced this location's capacity and within six years the company moved into its present home-a 56,000 square foot facility in Anaheim, California.
Westcoast Performance Products' reputation in the personal watercraft industry led to business affiliations with several international manufacturing entities. One of its biggest alliances was with Canadian-based Bombardier Inc., the maker of the Sea-Doo® line of personal watercraft. As an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for Sea-Doo® watercraft, Westcoast manufactured high
performance tuned exhaust systems (found in every Sea-Doo® two-stroke watercraft), as well as a host of other pump and handling components.
Westcoast also manufactured engine components for several automotive companies. This included a variety of intake manifolds and water pumps for DaimlerChrysler's Mopar Division; three different aluminum V-8 engine blocks for Ford Motor Company's Special Vehicle Operations, and a 4.0 liter V-8 aluminum engine block and dry sump oil pump system for Nissan's Infiniti IRL racing effort.
IIn the last five years, Westcoast has shifted its focus to manufacturing electronic components, again developing a unique product line. Westcoast continues to successfully supply its customers with high quality products, superior customer service, and a reputation that continues to make Westcoast a leader in manufacturing.
